Luke’s Tai Chi path began with Jay Jones, whose calm presence first drew him into the art.

He refined precision and mechanics under Adrian Murray, before training for 13 years with Richard Farmer, founder of Rising Dragon Tai Chi.  Here he explored meditation and the application of Tai Chi principles to daily life.
Luke began teaching in New Zealand in 1991 and spent 2 years in India studying with HWL Poonja. From 1995 to 1999, he led Rising Dragon’s Cardiff branch, teaching over 150 students each week while expanding into Qigong and BuQi with Dr Shen Hong Xun.
A turning point came in 1996 when Luke met Patrick Kelly, a direct student of Master Huang Shen Shyan. Patrick’s teaching transformed Luke’s understanding of Tai Chi’s internal principles. At the same time Luke also trained with Wee Kee Jin, another close student of Master Huang, deepening his practice still further.
In 1999, Luke founded Open Palm Taiji in Devon to continue his study and share Tai Chi’s internal wisdom. He has taught at Tai Chi Caledonia, and today trains with Wee Kee Jin while offering online courses, workshops, and private tuition.
